Will you live forever? Many people today are under the impression that the answer is yes. They live as though the day will never come when their heart stops beating and their eyes permanently close. They are driven by needs, desires and wants for today, assuming that tomorrow will always be there, waiting for them like a nursemaid charged with meeting their every whim and fancy. The horrifying truth is that the Bible actually confirms the truth that “we will all live forever.” But this eternal life is not one centered around news, politics, entertainment, sports and self exaltation. The Bible teaches with extreme clarity that all things have been created by God and for God. Therefore, the day will come when we answer to Him for our rebellion and sin. There will be those who live eternally in joy and worship of Him, and those who are eternally punished. This is reality, but the question is…”Is this your reality?”
Do you have any category for angels powerful enough to hold back the wind from the four corners of the earth? Can you imagine an endless bottomless pit set aside for those who reject Jesus? What about an an extended silence in heaven, where there is ceaseless praise for the Almighty God? Is it even possible for 1/3 of the light from the sun, moon and stars to be immediately darkened? Who will experience these great spectacles? Believers? Perhaps you and I? What if you encountered two old “gentlemen” dressed in sackcloth on the street corner who were preaching the gospel? No big deal except that I forgot to mention that they breathe fire from their mouths against those who disagree with them! What if a “beast rose out of the sea” and destroyed them, only to see their bodies lay in the street for three days, and then come to life and ascend to heaven? Have you thought about the consequences for offending a holy and eternal God? Have you thought about reality?
The events described above are not scene ideas for the next DC Comic movie, but biblical descriptions of the end of days taken from the book of Revelation. How can we live in light of the truth spoken of in Scripture? What if people were able to grasp the storm of God’s wrath that is coming for those who have rejected His Son? It is our hope that Almighty God will visit us on March 27–29 as we consider the reality of God’s sure and righteous judgment, found in the book of Revelation. We will have the great honor and blessing of sitting under the teaching of Dr. Jim Hamilton as he takes us through the heart of the book of Revelation, chapters 7-11 over the span of our weekend together. I hope that you will make every effort to join us on the last weekend in March as we seek to apply one of the most misunderstood books of the Bible to our lives today.
The entire weekend is free of charge and everyone is invited to join us for worship at Redeemer on Sunday, March 29 as Jim concludes his series. You are welcome to forward this invitation to anyone who might be interested in attending this free weekend with us as well. I hope that you will join me for what promises to be an exciting weekend of Bible exposition and fellowship.
Praying that the Lord would bless us with eyes to see,
